Lunamanzi Lodge, situated in Kosi Bay, KwaZulu Natal has something for everyone!

For people wanting to escape the city stresses and crowds – this is the perfect getaway. From walks along the pristine beaches, swimming in freshwater lakes and taking in the wildlife at the national parks – this part of South Africa is for those of you who want to breathe, relax – and take it down a pace.

And if at times you feel that you are missing the hustle and bustle of city life, the little town of Ponto do Oura in Mozambique is just across the border. This bustling town comes alive during high season when local and international travellers descend to soak up the Mozambican way of life in the many restaurants and bars dotted throughout the town.

Blending with local culture has also never been easier. Local people are always on hand to act as your guide if want to absorb the history and culture of the Elephant Coast and the Tsonga people.

The area is worth the visit. Book today.

A short history of the area

Kosi Bay forms part of the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park, a World Heritage Site and is made up of four interconnected lakes that drain into the Indian Ocean. The area is remote, in far north rural KwaZulu Natal (12km from the Mozambican border), and remains largely untouched with bird and fish species in abundance and hippos and crocs still found in the lakes.

The area is home mainly to the Tsonga people who practice traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation over the past 700 years.
